The Equinox was released for sale by Chevrolet in 2004. It was designed to replace several different SUVs manufactured by Chevrolet, including the Tracker, Trail Blazer, and Blazer. Its GM counterpart is the GMC Terrain.

New/Unique Features

The Equinox received a refresh this year. A new grille, different front and rear bumpers, and distinctive headlights are part of the redesign. Chevrolet added a new, sporty model with the RS. It has blacked-out trim and 19-inch wheels and includes nice touches like a unique shift knob and black upholstery with red stitching.

Engine Performance

Chevrolet got rid of the 2.0L engine previously offered with the Equinox. The current engine on all models is a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder with 170 horsepower. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front wheel drive is standard, but drivers may opt for an all-wheel drive configuration instead.

Trims Available

Chevrolet offers four different trim models this year. The L model has been replaced with the LS model as the base. The other models available are the LT, RS, and Premier. Standard features include 60/40 split seats, LED headlamps, teen driver technology, and Chevy Safety Assistant.

Interior Details

Despite its smaller size, the Equinox offers nice interior appointments with plenty of space. The 60/40 seats fold down to give drivers the room they need for carrying luggage or hauling cargo. The materials used are durable and nicely styled. It seats five people comfortably with excellent head and legroom.

Safety and Tech Features

The Equinox offers a variety of standard safety features to keep drivers and passengers safe. These include automated emergency braking and pedestrian detection. Lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist are also standard while features like adaptive cruise control are optional.

The infotainment system offers a 7.0 touchscreen with the option of an 8.0 touchscreen. It is easy to use with a quick response. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration allow users to make hands-free phone calls, get message alerts, and listen to music. Bluetooth and USB connectivity, and 4G LTE onboard Wi-Fi connectivity make it one of the best-connected crossover SUVs.
